wassail

wassail being the dictionary wotd on this here christmas eve, i found it incredibly appropriate when some fellow on livejournal linked to a group post in the metaquotes group (and for those of you too lazy to click the link, here is the tidbit: In the northern Europe of the late Middle Ages, gangs of young men would engage in ''wassailing,'' a cross between Christmas caroling and home invasion. The gangs would visit wealthy homes, often in disguise, and sing songs that threatened violence if they were not invited in for food and drink.

In agrarian societies, practices such as wassailing served as a critical safety valve, giving people at the bottom of the social ladder a release that would keep them in line during the rest of the year.

WHY DID THIS STOP?! I WOULD SO DO THIS.

JINGLE BELLS, JINGLE BELLS, GIVE US BEER AND MEAT
DON'T MAKE US BUST DOWN YOUR DOOR AND HANG YOU BY YOUR FEE-EET!")

This was the first portion of amusement from today's encounter with this website... the second amusement was from this icon that was created.

As you can see, this was clearly blog-worthy. It's nice to see Blogger finally being out of beta, too.

wisdom teeth removal surgery.

A good view of the some of my stitches.

A good view of the swelling of my tongue in attempt to take pictures of my stitches

Another pretty decent view of my stitches.

I know this is probably something everybody wants to see... am I right? But yeah, I got all four removed today.

amazon = anti-christ and the giver comes to life

first off, amazon (the newly dubbed anti-christ) has a new weekly deal. scam, or typical sale?

secondly, and probably most important... THE GIVER IS BEING MADE INTO A MOVIE!!! I have high expectations for anything involving that book so this better be amazing.

and the greatest thing to hit ebay since it started... the velvet underground and nico's original acetate mixed by the one and only andy warhol.

this is such a good day to be poking around on the internet.

nick cave and sonic youth

today after work i went to hastings to attempt to find a birthday present for erin, it's his 21st birthday party tonight. instead of finding something for him, i found four cds for myself. let me mention that these were all used and at fantastic prices.

all in all, hastings is the place to go to find compact discs.
but, when in doubt, use amazon when shopping for me. HINT HINT HINT.

employment, model un, hunger issues, school

so recently a position opened up at work -- shift manager -- and i was given said position. now my work schedule drastically changes and i now work the closing shift on weekends. hurrah. consequently, i have learned how to slice (for the most part) and this weekend sean will come help me with the closing procedures. once again, hurrah. ha in the past work week (wednesday-tuesday) i worked 44 hours +/- 2 hours. cons: me no sleepy. pros: money and fun with friends.

model un is starting back up again tonight and i am very excited. i really liked it last year, for the most part, and going to los angeles was, to say the least, amazing. yadda yadda, i'm excited.

well, the issue with hunger issues is that i don't know how to eat on a regular basis anymore, it seems. it's good when i work because then i at least eat one (sometimes two if i work two shifts) meals a day. OH, COLLEGE1!

college in general is not my cup of tea, it seems. if you'd like to know more on this i will tell you this, i dropped a class and now i'm a part-time student (technically). not so technically? i think i'm a full time student ten times over. harder classes should be worth double the credits. i mean, if there is more work involved. say, if i spend gobs of time outside of school doing work for school, or even just thinking about topics for my term papers... i should get more than 3 credits at the end of the semester.

rant, rant, rant.
it's funny talking about classic liberalism versus current day liberalism.
and that's all, folks.
