billy joel: lyrical genius?

so in his few number of real gems he's got, he really hits it with AMAZING lyrics. we didn't start the fire, despite it's general just disarray, is great! he really knows his history, right guys?
but i'm talking more about piano man and it's still rock and roll to me and uptown girls. these songs are genius, man, genius!

well, i've been listening to the asia radio station on pandora at work (foreigner, journey, asia, stuff...) and watching billy joel youtube videos at home the past 2 days.

my friend dave's older sister saw billy joel and elton john in concert at wrigley field a couple-a weeks ago. sooooooo jealous! i love them both! elton john maybe more though. but i'm really starting to appreciate billy joel for what he was.

so this weekend will be a fun packed weekend.

tomorrow is donald's birthday so i'll spend enough time with him and tara getting coffee and eating food after i get off work and STUFF.
then there's this free metal show at the picador that my talented friends these needles are playing at.
saturday my talented friends casper and the cookies and pcc are playing at the ames progressive. i'm really excited for that! i haven't seen the cookies in awhile. it'll be fun.
monday dungen, woods, and wet hair are playing at the picador. that will be sweet too.

wow i don't like updating my blog every day for a month. i really don't have a lot to talk about.
next week i'm going to colorado so i don't know if i can continue this...

day five

it's been an interesting day. i haven't had a check card for the past week or so (just came in the mail today but AFTER i left for work) and so i've been trying to keep cash on me so i have ways of paying for things i purchase and so i had to leave early enough to go to the bank to get $$ out so i could get gas because i realized i was on "E" last night when i was returning from work and had 2 dollars on my person.

exciting story. my friend grant just moved to iowa city and i hung out with him this morning then went to work and had a really fun work day for the first time in awhile. it was slower at night but i guess that HAPPENS.

now i'm drinking strongbow. hard cider is the greatest thing ever. EVER.

day 4

okay it's technically the 5th but i still think of it as the 4th because i haven't gone to sleep yet.
i worked all day so i don't have much to say about my day. i cleaned a lot yesterday and it smells good in my apartment now.
i really thought we'd hit 17000 at work. we only got to 16500. booooo.
i need new tv shows to watch. i really want to re-watch twin peaks but it's too creepy to watch in the middle of the night by myself. BOO.
this is going to be tough to keep up! good night!

a post every day

for the month of august i'm going to make a post every day.

this one is going to be about lemon scented lotion.
i convinced my parents to buy some a couple months ago and then last month when jill, jason and justin were visiting i got some myself. it smells really lemony, like lemon juice even.
if only they made chapstick like this...

part two of the post is that i'm cleaning my apartment. i made room for this sweet thing i want from decorum that i've been trying to find a place for before i buy since i moved here. now i need to buy thumb tacks and sticky tack.
or something.

lemon lotion and cleaning. i guess they go well together. LEMONY FRESH.

the intranet

you never realize how much the internet is apart of your life until it is taken out of your life. whoever lived near me with a wireless signal in reach moved out and so now i'm without internet until i cave or someone else moves in with the intranets sans passcode.

anyway, whatever.
the ipod touch got bluetooth and so i've been trying to pair my ipod touch to my polaroid instant printer lately. NO SUCCESS thus far.
i might have it figured out though... i think i've got the passcode for the pogo so i'm set possibly.

anyhoo, but with the internet discussion. so i'm at java house right now and i realize that when i'm on the internet i really don't do all that much other than look at random wikipedia sites and blogs and youtube videos and check the sales at work and look at flickr pages. i really don't do much of importance on the actual internet. this is kind of a let down when i go to the coffee shop to use the internet and i realize this... i feel like i should be doing something important. instead i'm updating my weblog and listening to the choir.
i was looking at some cameras on amazon for awhile... ?
as long as i don't just spend the whole time on facebook i guess it's not too bad.
RIGHT?!

anyhoo, i should go do laundry and clean my apartment. i made a list of things to do today and i have yet to start on them and it's 2 pm.
epic fail.

i've updated my blog more in the past 2 days than i have in the past 2 months probably. strange.
went to some show at the warehouse that a buncha kids moved into last night. noise show stuff. yup. yeah... stuff!

a staple in my life for the past 5-6 years has been APOD (Astronomy Picture Of the Day) and so I was checking it the AM after not having the internet for about two days - tragic, I know - and I'm checking it and the picture today is a remnant of a Supernova. so COOL.

trying to do laundry and stuff but the person that was washing stuff before me is not very timely when it comes to taking things out and WHATNOT.
FRUSTRATING! i have places to be and things to see laundry people.
i uploaded fotoz on flickr and am getting the discographies of a few bands here and there and i was listening to pink flag thinking about how pat stolley recorded them live. so classsssic.
i accidentally took the topper off the espresso maker too quickly after it was done and it broked my i want you for the US army mug :(
it's not completely broken, just a chipper. but still a total draggggggg.
i wish target wasn't in coralville i need a few materials, polaroid stuff, headphones, yeah i guess i don't know what else i really need.

SECOND OF ALL, i hate this. why is this book not about me?
THIRD OF ALL, i'm way more "ames" than they will ever be.
i know way way way more about ames and experienced way more probably ugh. UGH!

i do not enjoy the whole concept of this book... and it's not about me.
that's the main part, really.


so when i'm on the nyt best selling books list or at least the book about me is, i'll be happy and content. but my book would be so much better.

the first thing i thought when i listened to rilo kiley all those years ago was "this is the type of music that should live on and i should listen to when i think about high school era"
i still think that 6 years later.
i'm almost 22 afterall, holy shit.

spring time

it's one of those days where it gets cold again after a rain and i want it to be warm and stuff cuz i wanna go outside and buy some new soap and drink coffee but it feels more like a fall day rather than spring.
these days are frustrating to me.
LAME.

anyway, i've been meaning to get some thumb tacks to stick up this german flag i stole from my parents. it's classy. i want to put things in the foreground and take pictures of things in front of it. i'd put it behind my bed but there's a window there. and then people might mistake me for a nazi. NO GOOD.

the new bed i purchased from lebeda came today, too. i'm going to hang out in it for awhile before i do anything today.
okay. coffee time. I'M STOKED.

so i guess iowa passed the gay marriage bill allowing gay marriage. how insane. first state in the midwest.
noice one, iowa. how progressive of us.

in other news, i really miss the washington street jimmy johns and all its problems. being in iowa city doesn't feel the same anymore. i don't really like working at the new store.
